On the last day of the bavarian league baseball season, the memmelsdorf barons fought their way to victory in freising against the league leaders in the play-downs. Freising grizzlies II – memmelsdorf barons 4:7
Coach schroder trusted max maag as pitcher and was not traded. A classy performance by maag kept the hard-hitting grizzlies to just one point until the fifth inning, while the barons put a lot of pressure on the opposing defense with a clever running game. Two points scored already in the first inning. Flushed with solid defensive work, the barons’ ambition took hold and they forced more runs. The grizzlies fought back in the last inning, but dominik deuber saved the game as closing pitcher but good off.
Freising grizzlies II – memmelsdorf barons 11:1
In the second game, the grizzlies were clearly more awake. They sent a total of 14 hits into the field against memmelsdorf pitchers martinez and lang and quickly gained a clear lead. The barons quickly lost the will to achieve a surprise, the strong freisinger pitcher did his part. The defense continued to work almost flawlessly, but there was little to be done against the many strikes.
The barons now finish the play-downs tied for second (deggendorf) behind the freising grizzlies. For veteran volker lang it was the last game day, he now leaves the responsibility to the younger players and says goodbye to the baseball retirement.
